Mahony Fleet offers a convenient Short-Term Hire service exclusively for existing customers, providing a flexible and cost-effective vehicle rental solution for temporary requirements.
This option is designed for businesses needing a vehicle for a limited period, from one month to several months or however long is required.
The Short-Term Hire service is particularly tailored to situations where a new vehicle ordered for an employee is not expected to be ready for several weeks or months or if a vehicle delivery has been delayed due to circumstances beyond Mahony Fleet’s or the vehicle manufacturer’s control.
Short-term rentals are ideal for probationary periods of 3-6 months for new staff where a company does not want to commit to a long-term lease. They are also ideal when a company has temporary staff or employees visiting from overseas who may need a temporary vehicle for a short time.
If you are an existing Mahony Fleet customer with temporary vehicle needs, our Short-Term Hire service offers a dependable, cost-effective and professional solution to keep your business operations running smoothly.
We can also use Third-Party providers in the unlikely event that we are unable to facilitate any request. This can include specialist rental companies that deal with bigger or niche commercial vehicles.

Q: What is the minimum time I can rent a vehicle on Short Term Hire?
A: With Mahony Fleet Short Term Hire, our customers can hire a car or commercial vehicle from one month for as long as required.
Q. Do you provide insurance with the rentals?
A. Unfortunately, we do not provide insurance and the vehicle will need to go on your company insurance fully comp. We will require confirmation of same prior to rental start.
Q: Where do I collect my Short-Term Hire?
A: Once a rental has been booked and agreed, the driver can collect from our offices in Kilbarrack (D05P7W8).
Q. Can delivery/Collection be provided?
A. Yes, delivery can be arranged throughout Ireland at a nominal cost which will be advised at rental request.
Q. Can I return the vehicle at any time after one month?
A. Yes, this is a flexible short-term rental so it can be returned at any time without penalty or early termination costs.
Q. Is there a kilometre allowance on the rental?
A. Two options, 3000 km per month (28 Days) or 5000 km per month (28 Days), are available. Excess kilometres will be charged at an agreed rate detailed before the rental start date.
Q. Is there a list of prices available?
A. Prices will be agreed with our Short-Term Rental Department with the client depending on the required vehicle and kilometre requirement.

A. We have preferential rates with third-party providers, so we can use them if required.
Q. Is there an age limit on a short term rental?
A. No. There is no age limit as long as the employee has a full driving licence and your company insures the vehicle.
David Larkin manages Mahony Fleet’s Short-Term Hire Department and is always available to arrange a solution to meet your requirements. David has 25 years of experience in the motor industry, working in all areas, including breakdown, warranty, insurance maintenance, and, most importantly, customer support. David spent 13 years working in after-sales in VGIE and worked with Mercedes-Benz in Maastricht, Holland, and has a wide range of experience.
David has worked with Mahony Fleet since 2018, starting in our maintenance department. He has been promoted to Short-Term Rental Manager, and his main focus is resolving all vehicle rental needs for Mahony fleet customers. David assists our Maintenance department and works closely with all departments, including our Sales Team. David is a very valued staff member for Mahony Fleet and our customers.
